About BarburVet

Dr. Alexandra (she/her) joined the BarburVet family in August 2012 as lead veterinarian, then purchased the practice in May 2014. She completed her veterinary degree at University College Dublin (Ireland) in 2003. She has treated many species of animals, from horses, llamas, and cows to birds, turtles, and lizards, as well as dogs and cats. She enjoys dentistry and dermatology as well as addressing such common issues as osteoarthritis in the aging pet. When she is not at work she is riding her bike home to be with her husband and two daughters. Her furry family members are Gunnar (a 'low-rider' dachshund mix), Lily (a Pyrenees mix) as well as Beatrice and Bernice (former barn cats). She also has a rescue bunny named Edmund.

Nathalie (she/her) has recently relocated to California, where she serves as our remote receptionist. She has a background in design, but has embraced her new adventure at our clinic, combining her love of people as well as animals. She has four dogs at home who keep her busy and happy, but she is always looking to add more to her pack!

Ashley (she/her) has lived and worked in the Tigard area for years. Her first job out of high school was at a veterinary clinic, but after that, she bounced around trying out a lot of different career ideas – everything from managing a hotel, to selling cars! Eventually, she realized that she was meant to be in animal medicine all along, and she never looked back. She loves to spend her free time soaking up Oregon’s natural beauty on long hikes with her husband, playing video games on her PS5, or cuddling up with her Siamese cat named Honker.

Alejandra (she/her) joined the BarburVet Family in January 2023. She received her Veterinary Degree (Doctor in Veterinary Medicine) in 2016 from the University of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. She also received B.A. in Marketing in 2012 from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Mexico. She is currently in the process of pursuing her ECFVG to become a certified Veterinary practitioner in the US and hopes to focus on wildlife medicine. Alejandra has experience practicing as a Veterinary Doctor in Mexico at her family’s vet clinic before moving to the USA. Alejandra is a mother of 11 (4 dogs, 4 cats, 2 rats and 1 parrot). She loves to sing and dance when the time, place, and event permit.

Xan Rising (they/them) is a Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CrVT) originally from Denver, Colorado who has resided in Portland, Oregon for 5 years. They received their license in November 2023 from the Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board after passing the Veterinary Technician National Exam and completing an Associate of Veterinary Technology from Penn Foster. They also hold a BFA in Theatre Arts from Stephens College. With 8 years of experience in the veterinary field, and a Fear Free Certified Professional (FFCP) since 2021, Xan is dedicated to incorporating fear-free practices with advanced veterinary care to ensure stress-free quality care for pets and their families. Outside of work, Xan enjoys spending time with their spouse and fur babies, playing video games, and exploring the Pacific Northwest.

Xeike (he/him) joined the BarburVet Family in September, 2024...

Stephen (he/him) splits his time between managing BarburVet and managing his software company, VetBadger, which provides practice management software to BarburVet and to similar veterinary practices around the world. When he's not fetching lunch or writing software he can probably be found racing his bicycle around the nearest velodrome.
