Counter-surfing Dogs When your dog eats better than you or literally off your plate you know there is a problem.
I am afflicted with a counter-surfing dog, his name is Boo he is a tall long haired black lab crossed mutt. He is famous for devouring Grandma Kate’s Strawberry-Rhubarb pie in the tin while cooling on the kitchen counter. He is the chomper of freshly baked loaves of bread that I slaved away to make for my family. Luckily he hasn’t suffered any illnesses from his deceptive ways and voracious appetite but my family and I have been jilted of too many tasty treats. My biggest problem is not Boo but my husband and I. We adopted him when he was at least 6 months and never invested the time and money to properly train him. He is the dog that will exuberantly jump on you and nose you in the crotch when you enter my house as well as steal food on the table and counter. I only have myself to blame, so even though I will tell you the name of a trainer or give you behavior documents to assist in dealing with your counter-surfing dog, I won’t lie to you and tell you my dogs are perfect. I just don’t want you to suffer the same ill effects of an untrained dog. So everytime I leave the dinner table to answer the phone or assist one of my daughters in an emergency bathroom break, Boo is stealthily licking the plates and chomping up any yummy food on the table top or counters. I don’t want my clients to suffer the same fate. Invest the time and money in training, your pet, it is definitely worth it!
